Our features

Chinese Education

  1.
We hold Chinese contests periodically: story-telling contests for lower grades; speech and calligraphy contests for middle grades; impromptu speech, recital, calligraphy, Chinese phonemes and composition contests for higher grades.
  2.
We have "A passage a week" for all grades, and we assess students' learning by recital and reading contests.
  3.
We hold a speech contest every week for the higher grades.
  4.
We hold a winter training camp for students exceptionally gifted in Mandarin.
  5.
We implement Chinese education and teach students reading strategies.
  6.
We promote Mandarin proficiency by encouraging students to read a lot of books. ▲Back

English Teaching

  1.
There are nine certified teachers and five part-time teachers. We arrange English courses for students from kindergarten to grade six. We also offer small sized after school English classes.
  2.
We have increased the number of English teaching sessions since the 2001 school year.
  3.
We implement whole language teaching, promoting students' listening comprehension.
  4.
We use stratification schemes for grade five and grade six.
  5.

Library Education

  1.
We encourage students to read books. We award bachelor prizes to students who have read 20 books; master prizes to students who have read 50 books; and doctor prizes to students who have read 100 books. Students who have read 100 good books receive a steak dinner from the principal.
  2.
Students have to read 100“good books” and write book reports during their six years in elementary school.
  3.
We have "weekly lotteries" such as "Little Doctor's mailbox" and "Mandarin kaleidoscope" to encourage students to read books.
  4.
We match a monthly "theme book fair" activity to the school's activity or a holiday activity.
  5.
We encourage students to make mini books to learn more about a book's structure.
  6.
We have assigned experienced parents to teach the third graders to read.
  7.
We have 100 sets of class books available for each class to check out.▲Back

Teachers' Research and Studies

  1.
20% of our teachers have either masters or doctors degree.
  2.
We encourage teachers to do “active research” which we publish every year.
  3.
We have reading clubs, a professional development society, flower design society and many other societies every other semester.
  4.
Our teachers exchange their teaching experiences at the morning meetings.
  5.
We design thematic course activities and make related teaching aids.
  6.
We arrange Wednesday, Friday, summer and winter workshops for our teachers.
  7.
The Taipei Education Bureau has assigned us the charge of organizing the Chinese teaching seminars and New curriculum Chinese teaching workshops.

The Ministry of Education and the Taipei Education have assigned us the charge of Equality education.
  9.

Equality Education

  1.
Promoting the teaching profession: we have established a curriculum study team. We encourage related information sharing and participating in the design of course material held by the Taipei Education Bureau.
  2.
We have built a resource center: we have collected related books, magazines, props, media (such as VCDs, films, slides, videos, cassettes) and we have a shelf in the library for children's reading material about equality education.
  3.
We implement counseling curriculum: we have incorporated counseling into the curriculum and arranged class counseling. We invited homeroom teachers of each grade to participate in the design of male-female balanced materials and discussions after trials.
  4.
We schedule thematic monthly activities: we have arranged experimental activities and we have scheduled a thematic book fair, an equality forum, a movie appreciation event, and children's reading discussion groups.
  5.
We incorporate district resources: we have fostered district seed teachers, and encouraged them to take part in developing class counseling curriculum.
  6.
Studies: we have action research and we have made teaching materials.
  7.
We have assisted the Ministry of Education by holding related seminars and teaching demonstrations.▲Back

Counseling Activity

  1.
We focus on parent education and assist each class to establish a parent association.
  2.
We utilize district resources and recruit parents to assist with students' learning on a volunteer basis.
  3.
We have actively proceeded Taipei Heart (New) Education:
   
I.
We are responsible for the Peitou district workshops and related speeches.
   
II.
For teachers, we have classroom management experience sharing. We have a column titled "Goal of Education", a school post, a professional development society, and action studies.
   
III.
For parents, we have life education workshops and parent growing activities.
    IV.
For students, we promote "Healthy 'Heart' Education", life education.
    V.
For the district, we have a forum elaborating the direction of Taipei education and we keep a good relationship with neighboring schools.
    VI.
We assist the Taipei Education Bureau in hosting "Taipei Heart Education" broadcast on radio.
    VII.
We assist the Taipei Education Bureau in collecting, writing, editing and printing brochures titled "Note of Heart Field".▲Back

Exceptional Child Counseling

  1.
We consolidate resources by integrating subject teachers and homeroom teachers, fostering parental involvement, children's peer education, and consulting experts for suggestions and advice.
  2.
Our strategies include reading therapy, game therapy, art therapy, and behavioral change techniques. Children learn through activities and experience.
  3.
We adhere to the rule, "Sincere acceptance is the basis of counseling."
  4.
We record all counseling sessions. We analyze and discuss the records and always do a follow up after the discussion.
  5.
We cherish and encourage the involvement of volunteer parents.
  6.
We help special children by practicing class counseling, small group counseling, and individual counseling.
  7.

Experiencing Activities

  1.
We have diversified field trips. Our teachers can apply for a field trip if they feel it is applicable.
  2.
We have summer camps and have incorporated resources from the surrounding districts, including the Peitou hot springs and art into our curriculum.
  3.
We expanded our learning field by holding national and city exchange activities from 1998 to 2001.
  4.
We hold a year-end performance and a show on Children's day to display students' work.
  5.
We have incorporated traffic safety education and law education into class activities.
  6.
We have incorporated conservation education into subject teaching.
  7.
Our physical training activities are in compliance with the physical education curriculum.
